We’ve made it! After a rude alarm clock that woke me up at 3AM CEST back in the Netherlands I started the 2 hour drive to Schiphol airport in Amsterdam. Along the way I picked up Arjan Timmerman whom I met last year at Storage Field Day 6 and together we traveled from AMS to LHR in London. There we met up with Enrico Signoretti (also a familiar face from SFD6) and with the three of us we boarded the 747 to SFO. The Storage Field Day 7 adventure was about to begin!
Who has two thumbs and is going to Storage Field Day 7 on 11-13 March 2015 in Silicon Valley? This guy! W00t! Last year I attended Storage Field Day 6 as a complete Tech Field Day newbie; read more about it starting with this post. And I’m absolutely honored to say I was again invited for the newest iteration of the Gestalt IT’s Tech Field Day series!
For this year the basic recipe stays the same: twelve delegates from all over the world with a variety of skill sets and backgrounds, listening to 9 presenting companies talking tech spanning cloud, NAS, SAN, flash… anything storage technology related.
So as I posted a while ago, I was invited to attend Storage Field Day 6 in San Jose, California a while ago. Which is happening right now all the way till November 7th 2014. Today was day 0 with a big get together of the 12 delegates and Stephen, Tom and Claire from GestaltIT, the people organizing all the TechField days. After an very tasty dinner at Genji, a local Japanese steakhouse we performed a ritual called the Yankee swap: everyone brings a present. One by one you either decide to keep your gift or swap it with someones gift. Once everyone has made their decision you open it up and be amazed! Good fun!
This week I’m attending the EMC World conference in Las Vegas with two of my colleages from Open Line, Menno de Liège and Rob Koper. EMC Netherlands organized an additional Dutch Delegation event package for Dutch EMC employees, partners and customers. This year it included a rafting trip over the Colorado river below Hoover Dam.
This week I’m attending the EMC World conference in Las Vegas with two of my colleages from Open Line, Menno de Liège and Rob Koper. EMC World is about new and improved EMC products, getting to know the direction EMC and IT is taking with data storage and meeting EMC employees you normally only talk with over the phone or behind a chat/email handle. A chance to meet the person behind the account sort to say!
