Good news: I will be attending Dell Technologies World 2018, scheduled for April 30-May 3rd in the Sands Expo convention center in Las Vegas. Dell has been so kind to invite me to this conference, and I’m looking forward to meet the former Dell EMC Elect and many other industry friends.
Dell EMC Elect
I’m saying “former” Dell EMC Elect because, as you might have noticed, the Dell EMC Elect program is in flux at the moment. Dell (EMC) is currently redesigning the program, and there are no new nominations for 2018. Since the program was based around a 1-year membership, that means there is no official Dell EMC Elect list for 2018. We’ll see what the future brings, fingers crossed. In the meantime, I will still be rocking my previous years’ Dell EMC Elect polo!
The pause for the Elect means we haven’t received the normal amount of pre-event product updates. Based on the DTW website, I expect quite a lot of AI/AR/VR content like last year. Since this is technology that demands high performance systems, there are definitely some performance upgrades to be announced. Recent announcements already include a VxBlock 1000 and lower-entry XtremIO X2 systems, so I guess these will be mentioned too.
We’re invited as part of the media, analyst and influencer program. That means we’ll have a few separate sessions from Monday till Wednesday. Some of the GestaltIT Tech Field Day crew will also be present, so you might see a bit of broadcasting on those channels too.
Recently I’m working a lot with Unity all-flash, RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines and VXRail systems. So I’ll gravitate towards sessions and hands-on-labs for those systems, in the little downtime between influencer sessions.
There’s only three weeks left, so the Dell Technologies World 2018 madness will start soon. Follow us on Twitter with the #DellTechWorld and #DellEMCElect hashtags. If you’re Dutch, check the Dutch Delegation program: it’s the perfect way to make some new Dutch friends at the event and kill some time in the evenings. And if you see me/us on the showroom floor, do come and say hi. See you soon in Vegas!
