I will be flying out to Storage Field Day 10!

SFD LogoGood news: I will be flying out to Storage Field Day 10 which will take place in Silicon Valley on May the 24th till the 27th. Nine companies will be presenting, of which one company came out of stealth just yesterday! Some of these companies I’ve met at earlier Storage Field Days and I’m looking forward to the progress they’ve made over the last couple of months.

Deploying RecoverPoint – Part 3 – Deployment Manager

RecoverPoint boxConfiguration of the deployed vRPAs is performed with the RecoverPoint Deployment Manager. This is a tool on your laptop that, using a multi-step process, assigns IP addresses to the RecoverPoint appliances and their various networks and connects these appliances to the VNX array. The previous part of this series discussed the first steps to get into the tool: now it’s time to start entering some configuration data.

To my delight I was recently put on a couple of projects to deploy new virtual RecoverPoint clusters for two customers. Stop calling it disruptive

disruptive dictionaryI can’t read a product paper, marketing presentation or blog anymore without seeing ‘disruptive’ being used every other paragraph. It’s possibly the most hyped word of 2015, and I really can’t wait for it to go away. No matter how many times I read it: it has a negative connotation. Initially I thought it was some weird sort of language gap between English and Dutch, where it somehow has a positive vibe to it in English. But a quick Google query shows that even the English dictionaries agree: first and foremost it’s negative, but “them business folks” want to attach a special meaning to it…
